My name is Mike Pierce and I am both an Artist and a Fisherman. Both are true my passion! I grew up on a small lake in Southwest Michigan named Schnable Lake. It was on that lake, I learned to fish along with experimenting painting lures with spray cans my moms nail polish, and markers. My mom was always yelling “ where is my nail polish Michael”! I attended a small class “D”, Division IIII, school called Martin High School and had the best 4 years any high school kid could ask for. I worked hard enough to be a State Champ Wrestler and All Conference Football player for my school. Both teams I played on won team state Championships my senior year. I was truly humbled when I had been voted the most valuable player of my wresting team that same year. I always give 100% in whatever I do! I then attended Western Michigan University where I studied and graduated in 1997 with a BFA in Graphic Design and worked in the field of graphic design for a couple of years but decided working as a graphic designer was not for me and started working at a pharmaceutical company in supervision. The pharma company has taught me the importance of following the process and that quality is king. As for fishing, I have been BASS tournament fishing ever since I could drive a truck. I have been fortunate enough to win the “TNT” Bass Classic for a new boat along with several division championships and wins. In 2012, I unfortunately got divorced and my family wasn’t the same family it once was as you can imagine. My kids, who I had full time, I now only had part time. Due to this, I was by myself a lot and had a lot of free time to think. It was at that time, I started making and air brushing, crank baits. I also started buying soft plastic aluminum and experimented with all kinds of plastic strengths, colors and flakes. I would like to add I was self-taught on both processes. The funny thing is the crank baits I carved weren’t that great looking in the beginning and as for learning soft plastics! I learned you can burn plastic very easily and fill your house with smoke enough that the fire department was called! I honestly practiced both air brushing and soft plastic pouring until I got the reproducible results that exceeded my expectations. The proof customers, is how they catch fish and boy do they ever! That’s when I knew, I wanted to start M. PIERCE CUSTOM LURES and share my art and products with the world. I have outstanding fish(bass) catching products that customers can trust. Customer service is extremely important to me so know that I will take care of you the customer. I hope you find what you are looking for on my website and if not, please reach out and I’m sure I could accommodate what you are looking for as I will do customer work.
